Andrew Henley was named a 2012 recipient of the Housley Principled Leadership Scholarship. This scholarship was awarded to three outstanding participants of the Housley Principled Leadership Program who exemplified Kevin Housley’s principle centered leadership qualities, infectious enthusiasm, and maintained a sincere engagement in the course.
The program’s namesake, Kevin Housley, was a successful businessman who worked as Executive Vice President of Housley Communications. He served his community tirelessly as a long-time member of the school board in Christoval. In 2006, Kevin offered himself as a candidate for State Representative. A few short months after the race, Kevin was diagnosed with brain cancer which ultimately took his life in April 2008. Kevin is remembered by many as “a shining example of involvement as a community leader, a husband, a father, and a son.”
“Receiving this scholarship reminds me of the importance of paying it forward as I become an alumni because Stelos and the Housley program has shown me what true selflessness looks like,” Henley said.
Andrew is a Public Administration major and incoming Executive Vice President of Student Foundation, a premier leadership organization at Texas State. Immediately after transferring to Texas State just a few semesters ago, Andrew got involved in just about everything. He has a passion for his own development and the development of others. We’re proud of the work he’s done so far and are happy to count him as a member of the Stelos family.
